Today, Ash Wednesday, we mark the beginning the penitential season of Lent. Students will attend Mass today in addition to the normal School Mass on Friday, and blessed ashes will be distributed as a symbol of our humility, penance for our sins, and commitment to a fresh start leading up to Easter to live for Christ.

Several of our rooms have been decorated for Read Across America Week to fit our theme - Go Wild For Reading! There will be a vote for the best door or bulletin board on Friday and the winning adult will receive a gift bag with exciting prizes and the students in that room will receive a free Applebees kids meal coupon and a free Texas Roadhouse Kids meal coupon! Here is the second set. Make sure to like the picture for the door you think should win!

We had our second Read Across America Week field trip to Peter's Pense Catholic Library today! Mrs. Lozzio's 1st grade, Mrs. Boyd's 2nd grade, and Mrs. Gradwell's 3rd grade classes enjoyed story time and got to browse and learn more about the library. Thank you Peter's Pense again for welcoming our students and we are looking forward to the next group's field trip on Thursday!

We had our first Read Across America Week field trip to Peter's Pense Catholic Library today! Mrs. Baughman's Preschool, Mrs. Huston's Pre-K, and Mrs. Moeller's Kindergarten classes took the short walk to Peter's Pense and enjoyed a story from our very own Mrs. Gagnet (a Peter's Pense volunteer too!) and got to browse and learn more about the library. Thank you Peter's Pense for welcoming our students and we are looking forward to the next group's field trip tomorrow!

Our @ignatiusbookfairs begins today! We have samples in the cafeteria for students and families to browse and even more options available for purchase online. Make sure to check it out and place your orders online this week!

Yesterday afternoon, our 8th Graders received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie along with Confirmation recipients from Sacred Heart. Please pray for our young men and women as they prepare to start high school in the coming months and pray that the gifts of the Holy Spirit may now be made fully manifest in them with this great Sacraments!

Monday Meditation

We hope you are looking forward to Read Across America Week next week as much as we are! Our theme this year is Go Wild for Reading! Just a few reminders as we move into the week. Students will have several opportunities to earn prizes next week through reading as well as have surprise silent reading time, so make sure your students are bringing a silent reading book with them to school each day next week. We also will be taking school-wide field trips to Peter's Pense Library throughout the week, so make sure your child dresses appropriately for the short walk and for the weather on the day their class is going. We also have special person lunches next week, and signups closed this past Wednesday. Our Ignatius Press Book Fair will have a table set up in the cafeteria and guests are encouraged to browse with their students during lunch next week. All book fair orders are placed online, unlike a traditional book fair. Information has been emailed out previously and a catalog was emailed out and sent home with oldest and only students. Finally, don't forget about our book swap. Students may bring gently used and school/age appropriate books to school that they no longer read or want at home and will be given a pass which they can use Friday afternoon to pick out a "new" book donated by another student. Thank you for encouraging a love of reading in your child and helping us to celebrate literacy at school!

Today is the midterm of the 3rd quarter. Please be sure to login to Gradelink and check your child's progress on grades, attendance, and discipline to see where they stand so far for 3rd quarter. Please keep in mind that teachers and school administrators are able to see whether or not parents and guardians login and view their student's information. Thank you!

Unfortunately, due to a lack of ticket sales, we have had to cancel our Mother/Son Game Night tomorrow. Those who purchased tickets can come into the school office at any time to get your money back. Sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment this causes.

Don't forget collection for our gently used Book Swap begins Monday for Read Across America Week! Students may bring in gently used and school/Catholic appropriate books for all ages next week and will receive a ticket that they can use Friday to redeem for a "new" book to take home and read. Students will receive one ticket for each book they bring in that is accepted for the swap.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR AT THE EARLY BIRD RATE! THE FEE INCREASES TOMORROW!
Just like we did for this school year, for the 2025-2026 school year, we will be using an automatic re-enrollment system for our current students. This means that all students currently enrolled at Holy Angels School will be automatically re-enrolled for next school year with no registration paperwork needed from the family. Families will be billed the registration fee accordingly (see below for rates). Families who do not wish to enroll their child(ren) at Holy Angels next year must inform the school office by Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Failure to un-enroll your student(s) by that date will result in you being billed the registration fee, which is non-refundable and must be paid along with any other outstanding fees before we can transfer student records to the new school of choice.
2025-2026 Registration Fee rates are as follows:
1. Families who pay the registration fee at any point between now and February 28th will be charged the rate of $100 per family. Families who only have a Little Angels Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten student will be charged $25.
2. Families who pay the registration fee anytime between March 1st and April 30th will be charged the rate of $200 per family. Families who only have a Little Angels Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten student will be charged $30.
3. Families who have not paid their registration fee from May 1st onward will be charged $250 per family. Families who only have a Little Angels Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten student will be charged $50.
If you believe your family would have any trouble paying the registration fee, please do not wait. Contact us as soon as possible as assistance is available. We do not want a family's financial situation to stop their child(ren) from attending Holy Angels School! Thank you for your understanding as we work to best serve staff, teachers, and Holy Angels families in preparing for next school year.

Congratulations to our February 2025 1000 Club winners, Kathleen Hoying and Barbara Kinninger! Thanks so much to everyone who has supported Holy Angels Catholic School in 2025 so far by purchasing tickets! There are still 10 drawings/20 chances left to win $500 this year! If you haven't received your tickets yet or would like additional tickets, they can be purchased in the school office during regular hours for $20 a piece.

Tomorrow, Friday, February 28th, we will have a jeans/sweatpants day for all students and staff members of Holy Angels School!

Today, Holy Angels School hosted the annual Northern Area Catholic Schools Mass. This Mass is put together by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and was attended by over 400 school students and staff from Holy Angels, Saint Philomena, Saint Patrick, Piqua Catholic, Holy Rosary, St. Mary's, Immaculate Conception, and Lehman Catholic High School as well as members of the Archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office and Priests from the Chancery. A special thanks to Miss Katie Ahrns and Mrs. Lorie Beigel for organizing the many student participants at Mass and in the Choir and for Mrs. Denise Stauffer for coordinating with the Catholic Schools Office. It was a beautiful Mass and we are very thankful to have been able to host!

During Read Across America Week next week, we will be having 10 minutes of unscheduled silent reading each day of the week. At a surprise time, students will be told over the announcements to Pause, Prowl, and POUNCE on a Good Book. This will be time for students to silently read a book they have been assigned for class OR a book they have brought from home. Students will not be allowed to work on other work during this time, so make sure you bring a silent reading book to carry around each day next week!

We can't wait for our Ignatius Press Book Fair next week! Make sure to view the catalog and letter from Mrs. Stauffer sent out previously.

It's your last chance to get tickets for our Angels in Action PTO Mother/Son Game Night! Don't miss out - buy your tickets in the school office now.
